Here are examples of Gayle’s keynote and workshop topics:

Responding with Love/Teaching Love through Words:

This keynote address looks at tough subjects (domestic violence, the agony of grief, hatred of self and others) and walks through the process of creating and performing poems that contain words that are hard to say:”I love you.” “I forgive you.” “I am sorry.” “I see you.”

Using Words to Heal:

Features Gayle using her voice, her words and her body to share some of the most raw and beautiful slam poems you’ll ever experience. It explores universal topics like love, loss, tragedy and forgiveness. Perfect for audiences who may not be familiar with slam poetry or perhaps have decided poetry is not “their thing.” This performance will make a believer out of us all!

Cry Then Serve- Our Youth Are Hurting Too:

Takes students, teachers, and principals through an uncompromising journey of Gayle’s work with young people, from juvenile detention centers to the fanciest private schools. In her 20 years of doing this work, she has learned one thing: all our children are in pain and crying out for meaning and love in their lives. Those of us who serve youth, sometimes arrive home hurt and discouraged. This captivating experience re-enlivens and celebrates the grown ups who work with children and leaves them vowing to recommit to the mission of enriching young people’s lives.

The Love Circle- A Support Group of Uber Comfort for the Bereaved:

This intimate gathering is for people who are working through loss. Using humor, hugs, poetry, and honest talk, Gayle shares what she has learned on the loss journey and comforts the hearts of attendees. Think pillows, tea, tears, and laughter.

Writing It Down- Putting Pen to Paper When Your Heart is Hurting:

Gayle’s renowned workshops for all ages! Features a simple 4-step writing and sharing process that makes soul-writing fun and accessible. Gayle shares a few of her own emotional poems, then offers several irresistible writing prompts to get the hearts stirring and the pens moving!
